Sochna (pronounced Sha-kawh-naa), which means Peace, was formed in April 1999. This 6 member group plays irish music, bluegrass, folk, country and a little rock and roll to change up the pace. They are high energy on stage, and are known as a crowd pleasing party band, but they're not shy when it comes to playing a sweet ballad to get you up and close with that someone special. Their harmonies on songs like "Fox on the Run" or "You Feel The Same Way Too" will have you singing along in no time.
If it's close to the floor jigs you want, "The Jig Is Up" or the "Lonesome Boatman" will be sure to get your toes tappin'. If it's a capella you want, look for the boys to tackle "The Rocky Road To Dublin", "The Last Shanty" or "Peter Street". And if it's original music you're looking for, "Rugged Shores", Hall's Bay Fishman", "The Beacon" or "Dance Me Away" will be sure to bring you back for more.
Sochna is a fixture in the club scene and often play festivals and conventions, and they are known for lending their support to local charity events.
